Wausau, WIS- The Wisconsin Woodchucks recorded nine hits Sunday at Kapco Park, but they could not string them together and lost 6-2 to the Lakeshore Chinooks.

The Chinooks scored once in the second inning and once in the third to grab a 2-0 lead over the Chucks. Lakeshore then broke it open in the fourth. After a single and an error, Jake Romano and Lucas Raley hit back-to-back to doubles, scoring three runs. The Chinooks would add another run and lead 6-0 going to the fifth.

Wisconsin strung together a pair of singles from Max Ponzurick and Ryan Howard with two outs in the sixth, but they were unable to score as Albee Weiss flew out to left field.

The Woodchucks would finally get on the board in the following frame. Connor heady singled with two outs and Taylor Kohlwey followed with a triple to the left field corner, making it 6-1.

The ballgame got interesting in the ninth. Wisconsin scored Owen Taylor, bringing it to 6-2, and then loaded the bases for Ryan Howard. Howard lined out to right field to end the ballgame though.

Devin Skapura gave up six runs – only four of them earned – in three and a third innings in his first start for the Woodchucks. Kyle Dohy replaced Skapura and had a phenomenal outing in relief, holding Lakeshore hitless in two and two thirds innings on the bump.

The Woodchucks fall to 4-7 on the season with the loss, and they will play the Chinooks again tomorrow at 6:35 p.m. at Kapco Park.
