Pointer women survive Adrian to advance in NCHA playoffs
ADRIAN, Mich. – The UW-Stevens Point women’s hockey team advanced to the Northern Collegiate Hockey Association (NCHA) semifinals when it beat Adrian College 2-1 Saturday afternoon and then won the subsequent mini-game in overtime, 2-1.

The Pointers entered Saturday’s contest trailing the Bulldogs by one game in the NCHA quarterfinals.
Adrian claimed a 1-0 lead less than five minutes into the game, but the Pointers’ Shauna Bollinger (Menomonie, WI/Menomonie) evened the score late in the first period off the sticks of Allie Tanzer (Chippewa Falls, WI/Chippewa Falls) and Josie Johnson (Waunakee, WI/Waunakee).
The game-winning goal was netted by Michelle Lunneborg (Richfield, MN/Richfield) at 16:19 in the second period and assisted by Brooke Hanson (Maple Grove, MN/Maple Grove).
Janna Beilke-Skoug (Madison WI/East) recorded 34 saves for the Pointers to help force the decisive mini-game.
Nicole Schaub (Vadnais Heights, MN/White Bear Lake) gave UWSP a 1-0 lead just over three minutes into the mini-game, but the Bulldogs tied the game with five minutes remaining and forced a sudden-death overtime period.
Hannah Smith (Spokane, WA/East Valley) delivered the game-winning goal for UWSP in the extra period, sending the Pointers into NCHA semifinals where they will face UW-River Falls.
