Girls’ BB: SPASH earns share of WVC title by topping DCE plus other action

The Stevens Point Area Senior High girls’ basketball team earns a share of a second straight Wisconsin Valley Conference championship after beating D. C. Everest 35-27 on Thursday night. SPASH finishes 10-2 in the WVC and ties Wausau West for the title. Heather Woyak had 11 points for the Panthers while Taylor Hodell led DCE with 10. SPASH heads to the playoffs 17-5 overall while Everest finishes 8-4 in the Valley and are 16-6 overall.

Newman Catholic gets 18 points from Brianna Jankowski and 12 from Madison Tubbs in a 58-44 win at Phillips in a Marawood Crossover game heard on 1230 The Voice. The Cardinals win their fourth straight to improve to 15-7 overall heading into their Division 5 regional quarterfinal game against Gresham on Tuesday. Kendra Brown had 28 points for the Loggers and now has 1000 points in her high school career.

Darian Molter had 20 points as Marshfield tops Merrill 45-26. Ellie Fehrenbach adds 10 for the Tigers while Anna Finnell scores 11 for the Blue Jays.
