Pointer women’s basketball team thumps Stout
STEVENS POINT, Wis. – The UW-Stevens Point women’s basketball team held the Blue Devils of UW-Stout to just 28 percent shooting Wednesday evening as the Pointers rolled to a 78-51 victory.
The Pointers shot 53 percent from the field in the first half to take a 42-27 lead into the break. In the half, UWSP led by as many as 20 points, coming when Sam Barber (Schofield, WI/D.C. Everest/Winona St.) knocked down a jumper 11 minutes in.
UWSP continued to dominate out of the break. The Pointers built their largest lead, 29 points, with a minute to play when Jessica Brito (Danville, IL/Bismarck-Henning) knocked down a three-pointer.
Eleven different Pointers tallied a basket in the contest, led by Myranda Tyler (Grafton, WI/Grafton) who posted a career-high 19 points on 8-of-12 shooting.
Barber also reached double figures, posting 15 points and eight rebounds. She also handed out a game-high four assists and had four steals.
Brea Boomer led the Blue Devils with 14 points.
UWSP (19-5, 11-4 WIAC) will close out the 2012-13 regular season on Saturday, Feb. 16, hosting UW-Eau Claire for Senior Day.
