Hockey: East, Mosinee, and Pacelli among winners advancing in playoffs

The Wausau East hockey team scores twice in the third period to rally past Lakeland 3-2 at Marathon Park on Tuesday night in a WIAA regional playoff. Sam Romanski scored on the power play to lift the Lumberjacks into a 2-2 tie at 4:34 of the third period and Eric Pulkinen was it on an even strength goal with 3:30 to go in the game. The 8th seeded Lumberjacks advance to meet top-seeded Wausau West on Thursday night at Marathon Park in a game that will be broadcast on 1230 The Voice and 1230wxco.com starting with the pregame show at 6:45 p.m.

Mosinee rolls past Rhinelander 10-0 in a WIAA Regional playoff. Landon Stepan had a hat trick while Jake Hrebik and Chris Tomski each had two goals for the Indians, who advance to meet 3rd seeded Northland Pines in Eagle River on Thursday.

Stevens Point Pacelli scores five times in the first period and four more times in the second period as the Cardinals blast Tomahawk 13-1. That sets up a game on Thursday against 2nd seeded Stevens Point at the K. B. Willett Arena.

Also in hockey playoff action on Tuesday it was Marshfield beating Medford 11-1 and Antigo rolls past Merrill 11-1. Marshfield will next face the Regis co-op in Eau Claire on Thursday while Antigo travels to D. C. Everest.
