Wrestling: Wausau West advances to team state while defending champ Rapids falls to Bay Port plus other action

The top-ranked Wausau West wrestling team beat Menomonie 47-13 in a WIAA Division 1 team sectional at the West Fieldhouse on Tuesday night. The Warriors now advance to the state team tourney in Madison starting on March 1st. West recorded six pins and a technical fall in cruising to the victory.

Also in Division 1 the state title reign of Wisconsin Rapids came to an end with a 41-15 loss at Bay Port.

In Division 2, Wittenberg-Birnamwood fell to Oconto Falls 48-24 and in D-3 it was Edgar narrowly losing to Coleman 38-34 in the sectional final after beating Crandon 50-27 in the semifinals.
