Pointer women move to 10-3 in WIAC with win at La Crosse
LA CROSSE, Wis. – The UW-Stevens Point women’s basketball team won its fifth conference road game of the season when it defeated UW-La Crosse 62-57 Saturday night.
Jenna Pitt (Amherst, WI/Amherst) hit a three pointer in the closing seconds of the first half to give the Pointers a 29-19 lead at the break.
UWSP (18-4, 10-3 WIAC) ended the first half on an 8-0 run.
The Eagles (9-12, 3-9 WIAC) came to within two points when Erin Levenhagen hit a pair of free throws to cut the UWSP lead to 47-45 with 6:47 remaining in the second half.
However, Myranda Tyler (Grafton, WI/Grafton) hit a free throw and a layup while Sam Barber (Schofield, WI/D.C. Everest/Winona St.) followed with a three pointer to extend the Pointer lead to 53-45 with 5:11 remaining.
Barber led the Pointers with 18 points and nine rebounds while Tyler added 15 points and seven rebounds.
Briana Radowicz led the Eagles in scoring with 18 points.
UWSP committed just nine turnovers while its defense forced 16.
The Pointers travel to UW-Oshkosh Wednesday, Feb. 6 for a 7 p.m. tipoff with the Titans.
