Slow start dooms Pointer hockey team in loss to St. Scholastica
STEVENS POINT, Wis. – The UW-Stevens Point men’s hockey team scored three goals in the third period, but it couldn’t overcome an early deficit as the Pointers lost to St. Scholastica Saturday night, 6-3.

St. Scholastica (10-12-1, 6-9-1 NCHA) opened the scoring just over one minute into the first period and added another goal in the frame to take a 2-0 lead into the first intermission.
The Saints added two more goals in the second period for a 4-0 lead, but the Pointers got their scoring started in the third period.
Joshua Daley (Pittsburgh, PA) put UWSP (13-9-1, 7-8-1 NCHA) on the board just over seven minutes into the third period.
Less than three minutes later Tyler Krueger (Stevens Point, WI/SPASH) scored his first goal of the season cut the Pointer deficit in half at 4-2.
St. Scholastica went up 5-2, but Scott Henegar (Trenton, MI/Trenton) scored on a shorthanded breakaway to bring UWSP to within 5-3.
The Saints scored on an empty net to put the game out of reach.
The Pointers travel to Menomonie, Wis. Thursday, Feb. 7 for a 7:30 p.m. faceoff with UW-Stout.
