HS girls’ basketball: Assumption edges Amherst plus other scores

In a battle of the #2 team in the girls’ basketball D-4 poll and the #2 team in Division 5 it was D-5 that came out on top on Monday. Wisconsin Rapids Assumption stays perfect with a 48-44 win over Amherst in a non-conference game. Amherst drops to 14-2 overall while Assumption stays unbeaten at 15-0.

Athens edged Edgar 54-53 in another non-conference match-up. Cassie Hieronimus led three Athens players in double figures with 13 points while Kyncaide Diedrich added 12 points and Lexy Belter 11. Holly Denfeld had another big night for Edgar with a game-high 25 points.
