Eau Claire edges Pointers 3-2 in men’s hockey Saturday night
STEVENS POINT, Wis.-A pair of goals was not enough for the UW-Stevens Point men’s hockey team, as they were tripped up by UW-Eau Claire by a final count of 3-2 Saturday night at K.B. Willett Arena.

Garrett Ladd (Fenton, MI) (Fenton. Mich.) lit the lamp with just over one minute remaining in the first to give the Pointers (12-8-1, 6-7-1 NCHA) an early 1-0 advantage heading into the first intermission.
Isaiah Bennis helped the Blugolds draw even when he scored at 9:37 of the second.
UWEC took its first lead of the contest late in the period, when Andrew McCabe found the back of the net on the power play.
Sean Gammage (Wildwood, MO) (Wildwood, Mo.) helped the Pointer knot the game at 2-2 with his goal early in the third period.
But, just over one minute later, Drew Darwit dealt the decisive blow, putting the Blugolds up for good, 3-2.
Goaltender Nick Graves (Hewitt, WI/Ashwaubenon) (Hewitt, Wis.) finished the night with 14 saves.
Ladd and Jerry Freismuth (Grosse Pointe, MI/North) (Grosse Pointe, Mich.)each finished the night with two points.
The Pointers will be back in action next weekend when they play host to UW-Superior on Friday, Feb. 1. Faceoff is slated for 7 p.m.
