Despite another double-double by Barber, UWSP women fall at Whitewater

After getting out to an early 2-0 lead the Pointers fell behind the Warhawks, trailing by as many as six points, until Sam Barber (Schofield, WI/D.C. Everest/Winona St.) knocked down a three pointer to put UWSP up 20-18 with five minutes left in the first half.
UWSP never trailed again in the period, taking a 28-20 lead into halftime.
The Warhawks battled their way back, using a 9-0 run to jump in front of UWSP 58-52 with 2:57 left in regulation, and ultimately sealing the victory.
Barber tallied her second double-double in as many games by scoring 19 points and pulling down 10 rebounds, both game-highs.
Liz Althoff (Darien, WI/Clinton) also reached double-figures in scoring for UWSP, chalking up 11 points.
Kaitlyn Thill led the way for the Warhawks with 14 points.
UWSP will host No. 25 UW-Superior Saturday, Jan. 26 in Berg Gym at 5 p.m.
