Pointer women’s hockey team gets late goal from Tanzer to edge Blugolds
EAU CLAIRE, Wis. – With less than two minutes left in regulation Allie Tanzer (Chippewa Falls, WI/Chippewa Falls) scored the Pointers second shorthanded goal of the game to give the UW-Stevens Point women’s hockey team a 2-1 victory over UW-Eau Claire Saturday afternoon.

Sam Knutson got the Blugolds (6-10-3, 5-7-2 NCHA) on the board early by scoring less than 10 minutes into the first period to give Eau Claire the 1-0 lead.
The Pointers (10-6-2, 8-3-2 NCHA) knotted the game up at 1-1 when Michelle Lunneborg (Richfield, MN/Richfield) scored an unassisted, shorthanded goal seven minutes into the second period.
The Pointers and Blugolds battled back and forth in a game that looked to be heading for overtime before Tanzer scored her 10th goal of the season, unassisted, at the 18:13 mark of the third period.
Hillary Drake (Mosinee, WI/Mosinee) tallied her third straight win in goal by recording 13 saves.
Her counterpart, Paige Turner, tallied 34 saves.
UWSP returns to action on Friday, Jan. 25 when it travels to Adrian, Mich. to take on Adrian College. Faceoff set for 7 p.m. EST.
