UWSP women’s basketball team stays tied for first in WIAC after rolling past River Falls
RIVER FALLS, Wis. – Senior Sam Barber (Schofield, WI/D.C. Everest/Winona St.) posted her first double-double of the season to help the No. 15 UW-Stevens Point women’s basketball team roll past UW-River Falls Saturday evening, 63-43.
The Falcons (9-9, 3-6 WIAC) led the Pointers for the majority of the first half until Brooke Allen (Barneveld, WI/Barneveld) knocked down a pair free throws to give the Pointers a 24-22 advantage.
UWSP (15-3, 7-2 WIAC) took a 26-22 lead into the break and never looked back.
The Pointers built their lead to as many as 24 points in the second period, which came when Jenna Pitt (Amherst, WI/Amherst) knocked down a three-pointer with just over two minutes left in regulation.
Barber tallied 14 points in the contest and pulled down a season-high 11 rebounds.
Myranda Tyler (Grafton, WI/Grafton) and Brooke Allen (Barneveld, WI/Barneveld) also scored in double figures for the Pointers with 12 and 10 points, respectively.
UWSP returns to action Wednesday, Jan. 23 when it travels to UW-Whitewater for a 7 p.m. tipoff.
