Boys’ BB: Marathon tops Newman for third time this season while DCE, East, and Marshfield among other winners
A huge night from Collin Seubert leads Marathon to a 52-38 win over Newman Catholic in a Marawood-South game heard on Sports Fan 100.5 on Tuesday night. A slow offensive start for the Red Raiders led to a 13-10 Newman lead at halftime. However, Marathon took charge with a 18-7 edge in the third quarter en route to improving to 12-1 overall and 7-1 in the conference. Newman had a two-game win streak snapped and fell to 5-9 overall and 3-5 in the league. Marcus Gabriel had 15 points to lead Newman.
D. C. Everest moves within one game of first place SPASH in the Wisconsin Valley Conference after rolling past Wausau Wes 61-31 in a game heard on 1230 The Voice. Zach Finnegan had 20 points and Jared Gjertson 16 as DCE moves to 5-1 in the WVC and 9-5 overall. West got 9 points from Tyler Schertz but drops to 4-10 overall and 0-6 in the WVC.
Cole Nelson had 22 points as Wausau East beats Merrill 57-49. Nelson hit five three-pointers as East moves to 2-4 in the Valley and 4-10 overall. Paul Jesperson had 23 points for Merrill, who are 1-5 in the WVC.
