HS hockey: West tops East, SPASH stays perfect in Valley, DCE doubles up Mosinee
Tanner Gould scored a pair of power play goals and Kevin Conley added a shorthanded goal as the Wausau West hockey team beat Wausau East 4-1 at Marathon Park in a Wisconsin Valley Conference match-up on Tuesday night. Thomas Brown added a goal and two assists for West, who won their third straight game to improve to 6-3-1 overall and are 3-0 in the WVC. Isaac Comfort made 44 saves for the Lumberjacks, who are 0-8-1 overall and 0-3 in the WVC.
Bryan Quinn recorded a hat trick and Stevens Point stays perfect in the Wisconsin Valley Conference with a 10-1 win over Marshfield at the K.B. Willett Arena. SPASH is 7-0-1 overall and 3-0 in the WVC. Bobby Leggon had the only goal for the Tigers, who fall to 1-8-1 overall and 0-4 in the Valley.
D. C. Everest scored the first four goals and beat Mosinee 4-2 in a non-conference game on Tuesday night. Cole Halligan had two goals for the Evergreens while Chris Babiarz and Brady Borrell also lit the lamp for DCE. Zach Pyan and Chris Tomski had goals for the Indians while Jimmy Rogers made 26 saves. Andy Mahler had 33 saves for Everest, who improved to 5-4.
