HS boys’ BB: Marathon rolls, Auburndale edges Newman and other action
The Marathon boys’ basketball team stays perfect after beating Pittsville 60-44 on Thursday night. Collin Seubert had 23 points and 9 rebounds for the Red Raiders while Vince Dinkel added 14 points as Marathon improves to 7-0 overall and 4-0 in the Marawood-South. Trail Pierce had 12 points and 11 rebounds for Pittsville, who dropped to 5-3 overall and 3-1 in the Marawood-South. Marathon returns to action next Tuesday at Assumption in a game that will be broadcast on Sports Fan 100.5.
The tight losses continue for Newman Catholic as the Cardinals fall to Auburndale 52-50. Austin Hawkins poured in 29 points for the Apaches while Blake Anderson had 12. Marcus Gabriel led Newman with 18 points and Nick Thoreson had 12. The Cardinals travel to Stratford on Tuesday in a game that will be broadcast on 1230 The Voice and 1230wxco.com.
