Alvarez to add new contract clause when hiring next football coach
Wisconsin Badger Athletic Director Barry Alvarez plans to make sure he’s not
surprised again if a football coach decides to leave his school. Alvarez
did not learn until the day of the announcement that Bret Bielema was
leaving Wisconsin for the head coaching job at Arkansas. Alvarez says his
office always contacts a school’s athletic office before making contact with
a coach he may want to hire. Arkansas apparently did not do that in
Bielema’s case, but Alvarez will insert a clause into his next coach’s
contract that requires his office to be informed if the coach has contact
with another school.
