Pointer hockey team tips Stout in OT to complete series sweep
STEVENS POINT, Wis. – The UW-Stevens Point men’s hockey team swept the weekend series against the Blue Devils of UW-Stout with a win Saturday evening, 4-3 in overtime.

After being shut out Friday evening, the visiting Blue Devils struck first at the 5:31 mark of the first period, taking the 1-0 lead.
The Pointers responded midway through the first as Alex Kromm (Penticton, BC) found the back of the net off the sticks of Jerry Freismuth (Grosse Pointe, MI/North) and Evan Dixon (Novi, MI).
With a minute left in the first period, Kevin Gibson (Grosse Pointe, MI/North) netted the go-ahead goal for the Pointers, giving them a 2-1 advantage.
The Pointers and Blue Devils went back and forth for the next two periods sending the game to overtime, knotted at 3-3.
One minute and 27 seconds into overtime, Andrew Kolb (Toledo, OH/Toledo Catholic) scored his third goal of the weekend giving the Pointers the victory.
Brandon Jaeger (Champlin, MN/Champlin Park) extended his winning streak to three games, notching 12 saves on the evening. Tom Lescovich suffered the loss, stopping 28 of the Pointers 32 shots on target.
UWSP (7-5-1, 4-5-1 NCHA) returns to action Dec. 29 as it travels to Adrian, Mich. to take on the Bulldogs in a weekend series.
