UWSP women’s hoops team gets 18 points from Barber in win over U of Chicago
CHICAGO – Senior Sam barber poured in a game-high 18 points and three other Pointers scored in double figures as the 12th-ranked UW-Stevens Point women’s basketball team rolled to an 83-69 victory over the Maroon’s of the University of Chicago.
Tied at 26 with 5:44 remaining in the game’s opening half, the Pointers used a 15-4 run over the final minutes to build an 11-point edge, 41-30, just before the break.
Holding a nine point advantage at the start of the second half, the Pointers continued to pile on the points, building a 29-point advantage, 72-43, midway through the final stanza.
The advantage was too much for the host Maroons to overcome, as they could not cut the deficit to even single digits the rest of the way, as the Pointers rolled to the 14-point win.
The Pointers shot 46.9 percent from the floor on the afternoon, and held the host Maroons to 39.0 percent. The Pointers also held a 47-32 edge in rebounds.

Four Maroons scored in double figures, led by Julie Muguira’s 16.
The Pointers (4-2) return to action on Wednesday, Dec. 12 with a match-up at home against the Warhawks of UW-Whitewater. Action in Berg Gym begins at 7 p.m.
