Barber’s 19 points lead Pointer women to win over Oshkosh
STEVENS POINT, Wis. – The UW-Stevens Point women’s basketball team got back on track Wednesday night, defeating the Titans of UW-Oshkosh, 64-55, in Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference action in Berg Gym.
The Pointers never trailed during the game, leading by as many as 17 points.
The Titans managed to tie up the game, 27-27, with just over a minute left in the first half, but the Pointers pulled away to take a 31-27 lead into the break.
Sam Barber (Schofield, WI/D.C. Everest/Winona St.) led all scorers for the sixth time this season, with 19 points.
Two other Pointers scored in double digits on the evening. Liz Althoff (Darien, WI/Clinton) recorded 11, going 4-for-4 from the charity stripe, and Taylor Bahr (Caledonia, WI/Shoreland Lutheran) recorded 10. Junior Josi Schultz (Eau Claire, WI/Memorial) recorded a game-high 10 rebounds.
Sarah Stecker led the way for the Titans with 12 points. Three other Titans posted 10 points.
UW-Stevens Point (4-2, 1-1 WIAC) returns to action Saturday, Dec. 8, as it travels to Chicago, Ill., to take on the University of Chicago (1-5). Action set for 2 p.m.
