Pointer men’s basketball team rolls to big win over Oshkosh
OSHKOSH, Wis. – The No. 7 UW-Stevens Point men’s basketball used a 30-12 run late in the first half to pull away from host UW-0shkosh as the Pointers cruised to a 74-53 victory over the Titans Wednesday evening at the Kolf Sports Center.
Leading by three, 15-12, with 12:50 remaining in the opening half, the Pointers (6-0, 2-0 WIAC) took control thanks to the 30-12 run, extending their lead to 21, 45-24 just before the break.
The Pointers maintained a double-digit lead throughout the second half, building their largest lead, 27 points, on a three-pointer by Trevor Hass (New London, WI/New London/Augustana (SD)) with just under five minutes to play in the game, 74-47, rolling to the 21-point victory.
UWSP held a 34-17 edge in rebounding on the evening. Tyler Tillema (Randolph, WI/Randolph) led all scorers with 20 points, 11 in the opening half. Joe Ritchay (Wisconsin Rapids, WI/Lincoln) and Hass each chipped in 10.
Andre Wallace led the titans with 12 points on 5-of-9 shooting.
The Pointers return home to face Augustana College on Saturday, Dec. 8 in a nonconference match-up with the Vikings. Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m.
