Michigan DL pleads guilty to destruction charge
Campbell admitted to sliding across the hood of a 2003 Lincoln Town Car on the 600 block of Church Street in Ann Arbor early in the morning on April 7. He initially was charged with both felony and misdemeanor malicious destruction of property, but the felony charge was dropped as part of the plea deal.
The 6-foot-5, 315-pound Campbell told the court he was crossing the street to see friends and decided to slide across the hood of the car.
The difference between the felony and misdemeanor charges was the amount of damage caused. The misdemeanor was for between $200 and $1,000, while the felony charge was for more than that.
Campbell, who is expected to start on the Wolverines’ defensive line this season, agreed to pay $2,100 in restitution for damages to the vehicle.
Sentencing for Campbell is scheduled for July 29 at the 15th District Court in Ann Arbor.
Campbell, 20, also is due in court on July 23 for a pretrial hearing on a misdemeanor charge of a minor purchasing, consuming or possessing liquor stemming from the same incident.
